Waterfalls Childern’s Center

Where specialised learning meets lifelong self-reliance

The Jairos Jiri Association Waterfalls Children’s Centre, located at Number 210 Northway Prospect Waterfalls, Harare, is a specialised infant school and residential centre that provides care, rehabilitation, and early childhood education for children with disabilities. The centre supports children with conditions such as spina bifida, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, speech difficulties, mobility challenges, and limb impairments, which may affect their ability to independently carry out daily activities. The centre currently accommodates 18 children as full-time boarders, with more expected to enrol from Harare and other parts of the country. A team of 16 nurse aides provides 24-hour care and support, ensuring that the children’s daily needs and well-being are attended to at all times. Education at the centre focuses on Early Childhood Development (ECD A and ECD B). One teacher guides the learners through an inclusive educational curriculum designed to support their learning and development.

The Physiotherapy Department is currently staffed by one Rehabilitation Technician and is in need of one qualified Physiotherapist. The department provides physiotherapy services, including therapeutic manipulation and prescribed exercises, to support the physical development and mobility of the learners. During school holidays, parents and guardians take their children home when schools close and return them when the new term begins.
